You're reading this, which was, or will be, written 500 years from now. I promise you this is a true story, though unbelievable as it may seem.
Let me start by telling you how Earth has changed. An asteroid struck the Polar Regions North of what was once Alaska, righting the Earth's axis by ten degrees. That in turn caused much of the ice caps to melt and changed climatic patterns worldwide. Much of the world was over. Europe and Asia became covered in several linked seas. Any of the buildings in New York City that were under 105 stories were completely covered in water. The Great Lakes combined to cover most of the mid-west to create one of the world's largest inland sea. The Rocky Mountains and the high plains of the west, although unaffected by the rise in the water level, became a tropical region and center of the United States.
